Casting thickness up to 15–18 cm(the “up to 15–18 cm” specification refers to the recommended casting depth and does not mean that any volume of resin can be safely poured in a 15–18 cm thick layer at once)
UV resistant, does not yellow over time
Low viscosity
Working time: 150–200 minutes
HL-521 is designed for large volumes, massive products and deep casting. Thanks to its extended working time of 150–200 minutes, it is intended for slower polymerization and castings up to 15–18 cm thick.
⚠️ IMPORTANT! Casting thickness ≠ casting volume !!! DO NOT CONSIDER ONLY THE LAYER THICKNESS — TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE SURFACE AREA AND THE TOTAL VOLUME OF THE RESIN!!! HL-521 epoxy resin is designed for deep casting. However, the maximum permissible casting thickness depends not only on the layer thickness, but also on the total volume of resin, the size and shape of the product, ambient temperature, the amount of filler, and the additives used. !!! When the components are mixed, an exothermic reaction takes place, releasing heat. The larger the volume of resin, the higher the risk of overheating, boiling, bubble formation, cloudiness, deformation, or damage to the product.
Mix the components strictly at a ratio of 100:40 by weight (we recommend using accurate scales to weigh the components correctly and DO NOT attempt to measure the components by volume).
Mixing containers must be clean and dry and free from potential contaminants such as dirt, dust or grease. The components must be mixed in a well-ventilated area.
Do not mix an excessively large volume of resin at one time.
Follow the manufacturer's recommended casting thickness.
Before casting a large volume, a test pour is recommended.
Do not place the casting near radiators, heaters or in direct sunlight.
All fillers and decorative elements used must be dry.
Do not exceed the recommended amount of pigment or other additives.
Mix the components thoroughly while avoiding the incorporation of excessive amounts of air. Mix the mixture thoroughly for 3–7 minutes, scraping the product from the sides and bottom of the container. Double mixing is recommended.
Before pouring the epoxy resin onto a surface or object, it is recommended to thoroughly prime the surface with a thin layer of the same resin. This is especially recommended for porous surfaces to prevent the formation of air bubbles. Pour the mixture in a single continuous stream directed toward the lowest point of the mold. Allow the mixture to distribute itself evenly. Uniform spreading of the mixture helps prevent air from becoming trapped inside. The curing time at room temperature varies depending on the mass of the mixture. The surface of the finished product can be sanded. When mechanically processing or sanding the product, a respirator must be worn to prevent dust from entering the respiratory tract. The working time and curing time directly depend on the mass and configuration of the product. Full curing time: 96 hours (+ 5–7 days before polishing and sanding). Finished products are strong and durable. They can also be mechanically processed, painted, primed or bonded to other surfaces.
